Programme

Presidential Address, 14h30

Session 1, “Politics of Training and Sub-specialisation”, 1440 - 1610

Treatment of vascular disease is becoming more complex with many endovascular and pharmaceutical options. In many countries, all of these are offered by the vascular surgeon/ vascular specialist. In light of this development, will the vascular surgeon/vascular specialist expand his or her training and become trained in all aspects - the multipotent vascular specialist - or will he or she specialize within a small area dealing with vascular diseases: i.e. an open vascular surgeon, an endovascular specialist and an expert in vascular medicine - as cardiac disease is dealt with today by cardiac surgeons, invasive and non-invasive cardiologists. Each regional member of the World Federation of Vascular Societies will present their views on the future of this.

Coffee break

Session 2, 1630 - 1800 Current and future treatment of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD). Each region will present the best research within PAD and how they see the future of PAD treatment.
